Some happenings from the past few weeks...
A few weeks ago, KC had their annual 'KC Restaurant Week'. It's a pretty big deal here. KC likes their food! Several local restaurants team up for this event and offer fixed menus at fixed prices during the week. Some of these are really good deals, you can experience the more expensive restaurants without spending a fortune! Smaller groups of us hit a couple of spots near work for lunch, then at the end of the week a whole bunch of us got together for dinner.
Mac & Cheese Croquettes, Baja Shrimp Street Tacos
Roasted Cauliflower Soup, Deconstructed Chicken Pot Pie, Hot Chocolate Bread Pudding with a Bourbon Sauce.
Here's the gang that met up for dinner at the end of the week. Love all those faces!
Winter Sangria (of course!), Sonoma Salad, Prosciutto and Spinach Pizza, Autumn Crunch 'Gelato'. I put 'Gelato' in quotes, since I've had the real deal! Just not the same...ahhh, Italy...
Aaand while we're talking food, here's what we enjoyed at our latest Happy Hour. I was (and still am) on Prednisone, so there was no drinking for me! We went to RA Sushi. Yum. Yum.
Now, here's a follow-up from my Chili Bowl post from a few weeks ago. We finally got the group of winners together for a photo!
Seriously, girl on the end, you just got a custom-designed BV apron! Look a little more excited! An architect created those!
This is my buddy Chad, who won the overall prize! Side story, this is the first time he's entered the Chili Bowl. He used his Dad's recipe. His dad passed away almost exactly one year prior to this cook-off. I'm so glad Chad was the one that won!
And here was my attire for the Super Bowl. It didn't work. That's all I'll say about that.
