snOMG! It's the Snowmageddon of all Snomageddons, the Blizzard of Oz 2013!

Things I learned today:

1.  My polka dot boots aren't enough for days like today.  My toes are still cold.  I need real snow boots.
2.  I miss my Jeep.  A lot.  I WILL have one again some day.
3.  Gloves should be warm AND cute.  Gloves that are only cute are just worthless.
4.  I will never be without a snowblower, even here in Kansas where the snowblower has sat unused for the past 2 years.
5.  Condo life it looking pretty good right now.

I have never been snowed in like this before, at least not in my adult life.  This city came to a halt today.  We had about 12" of snow come down in just a few hours this morning with whiteout conditions.  It even impressed this Iowa girl.  Hey, Kansas City, THIS is what a blizzard looks like!  1" of snow does NOT a blizzard make.  It hadn't started snowing when I got up this morning, and I contemplated going in to work.  But, then I remembered the last time I laughed in Mother Nature's face (this past Christmas), she made me 2 days late to Florida!  So, I stayed home.  Good thing, too, my car is too short to drive in this and I probably would've ended up stranded somewhere!

Cars that did venture out got stuck.  Roads and Interstates were parking lots of abandoned vehicles.  Snowplows weren't able to get out to clear things off because of all of the cars littering the roads.  Tow trucks had to come in and remove vehicles before plows could go through.  As of this post (8:30pm), my street still hasn't been cleared.  If it's not cleared by morning, I'll be snowed in again.  It's started snowing again tonight, and they are expecting another 2-4" out of this 2nd round.  Oh, and my favorite, sleet!  (That was sarcastic, btw!)  Most restaurants and retail was closed today too.

I realized it was probably time to clear the snow when I went to take the dogs out to do their business, and the snow was as tall as Chloe!  So, first things first, I had to clear a 'Pee Path'.

Next, I got all bundled up.  I call this my 'Snow Ninja' look.

It actually snowed INSIDE the garage!  While the door was shut!

12" of snow plus drifting

Time to choose my weapon of choice.  I don't think this is going to cut it.

Muuuuch better!

Finally got that first pass done.  Whew!  Oh crap, there's more.

The little red snowblower that could!  The drifts were taller than the snowblower, but it powered through!

You know that horrible moment when your fingers and face are frozen, then you realize you're only halfway done?  Yeah, me too.

Time to warm up.  Fuzzy socks...

And coffee.  I cannot confirm nor deny that there MAY be something a little extra in there!
