We FINALLY have our first tomato grown from scratch! We have another couple that are still green, with the cooler temps here they should be ready in a week or so. We've learned that tomatoes are probably best grown in the ground! I think we may have stunted their growth by keeping them confined in pots on the porch. The extreme heat and lack of rain probably didn't help either. Our basil did really well, we've dried and frozen a lot of it and it's still growing strong. And two (out of 4) of the hot pepper plants has several peppers on it that we're waiting to ripen. Those 2 were our most successful. The cilantro was our least. It died after only a few weeks! So, it was a mixed success, but we'll definitely try growing our own again next year and learn as we go!
